Being alone is being in the company of your truest soul mate — your SELF.

Isolation can be a lonely thing... There’s been a lot of chat about a “new normal” but I prefer to look at this as a new RHYTHM. New normal makes it sound like things will never go back to how they were — and for some of us they may not, I absolutely acknowledge that — but for the majority things will return to what we had before. My hope is that we’ll choose to keep some of these new rhythms we’re creating. I’m finding new rhythms in this dance that are truly bringing me joy. And they’re simple things like discovering all the flowers in my neighborhood. Afternoon meditations to reset my system. My renewed love of scrap-booking!  This is my new rhythm and I know it will serve me long after this storm has passed.

I do not want to even get into the WORLD of Life... there has been so much said already about the pandemic, I don't need to repeat it on my blog. I do want to record life as it happens, but this is just too sad and horrible with the whole World effected by the virus causing so much pain to so many. So that is all I will say on the topic.... My heart is hurting for the world and the quote on my flash back is how I tend to react to the World... Love from me to you all xx

Enjoy a cuppa tea fit for royalty. "The English High Tea of the iconic vintage era is renowned for being a favorite with Queen Victoria and offers a traditional high tea with 17 teas, a selection of succulent finger sandwiches, an assortment of delicate pastries, fruit and plain scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve. All to be enjoyed with a glass of chilled champagne".

I love taking tea in random vintage cups and the tradition of tea from a proper pot poured into a bone china cup...

The world beyond the hidden garden vanished from her awareness. There was only this place, this patch of Eden, sunny and quiet and blazing with unearthly color.

I am keeping my 20/20 projects really simple this year... A lot of them are little twigs just for me and others I will join in with groups in classes. They are doable and not BIG items nor over the top crafty. A couple are life style changes and feel good stuff..... Life is just far to short xx Keep it simple and happy xx

Wednesday, 1 January 2020

Welcome to 2020.... Clarity will be my 'one little word' along with Fun added for creativity. So yes two little words will travel with me all year long. I have mapped out my 20/20 projects and added them to my calendar to make them a priority... I will share them as I go along! I am keeping them simple and doable. See you back here next week when I kick start the process of 20 projects in this year of 2020.

Years end: 2019

Hi friend!

The year is winding down and with it, so am I. I just finished my last creative project of the year, and I am working on 2020 challenges but now it is time to step out of the craft space for the next few weeks.

I didn't want to go without saying thank you so much for being here. Whether you're new to the lane or have been here from the beginning- not a day goes by that I don't recognize the gravity that I would have none of this without the human beings that enjoy my work enough to support me.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I am so grateful for you.
I am really excited about what's to come in 2020 and the kind of projects that have pulled on my heart. I think you're going to be really excited as well!

I’m grateful you’re here on this crazy wild ride with me and I’m so excited to have this space to share all the ups and downs, tips and tricks, sad times, good times, successes and failures.

2020 is going to be a wonderful year and I cannot wait to share more of my ideas, hopes, and dreams for this upcoming year with you. Until then, a very Merry Christmas to you, and a blessed New Year.
Summer :

Grab a loved one and a cold refreshing drink and jump in the car late at night (or early at night if you're a grandma) to look at the lights. Put some Christmas tunes on in the background and allow yourself to get lost in the beauty and wonder with no distractions.

I was hanging out over at the blog of Donna Downey and Donna shared this song and it touched my soul... I wish you all a Million Dreams come true for 2020.

Thursday, 5 December 2019

We are almost at the end of 2019... we are into the first week of December. Eek!!! It is the time to finish up with my 'one little word' which I carried with me for the year and choose the new one for 2020. I ordered my word a week or so ago but now have changed my mind (well sort of)..... I ordered another word today and because I think they are both going to fit together, I am going to go with them both. There are no rules in my creative heart... I have signed up to the class again but this coming year I am undertaking a project to do 20 NEW items and 20 UFO's (unfinished items) over the year. I am creating a list and hope to tick each item off along the way. I will share the list here in the New Year and the following is my new clip art to use for the posts that will relate to the 2020 list. I know so far a few items that I am going to add to the list are create more art, digital items and running a couple of give aways on my facebook page. I will also be breaking out the sewing that is piled high up in my cupboard unfinished.... Enjoy your week!

Summer Do your prep for next years monthly art journal now in November before life gets super busy with the upcoming festive season that is December. Find a list of journal prompts on the internet to inspire you, for a starting point. Find a journal that speaks to you that you can carry with you all year long... I am using a travelers notebook, I have a Websterspages cover and it all fits neatly in my tote bag. I plan to keep it simple and sweet. 1 photo a month and using the Stampington & company list of prompts from this year which is a freebie at the site to twig my journal heart....

Celebrate the power of new beginnings.
Work with reds, pinks, and whites in a new or unusual way.
Celebrate the colours of autumn and falling leaves.
Grab some junk mail and use the pieces to create something new.
Pick your favorite quote or song lyrics to decorate this month’s page.
Create a page that uses a mantra or words of encouragement.
Let the winter weather inspire your next art journal page.
Choose any object in your home and make it the inspiration for your page.
Embrace the beauty of imperfection. Doodle until you fill an entire page.
With summer beginning, create a summer bucket list or list of your favorite summer actives that you want to do whilst the sun is shining
Make a gratitude list.
Create a self portrait.

Cultivating a Quiet Heart

If I don’t take the time to slow down and nourish my heart with things I look forward to in the mornings (coffee, sunshine, writing in my journal, etc), I go through the rest of the day out of tune with my needs.

I hope I will give you some encouragement and inspiration to take some time to set the tone for your day with your mornings.

I came across this on a blog hop and as I am going to start a organic quote keeper journal for 2020, I'm dropping this here to inspire you to start Cultivating a Quiet Heart...

“she’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
she looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.
first thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
she senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
she’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
diligent in homemaking.”
— proverbs 31 MSG

Summer is a busy time of the year and often seems to fly by, so taking the time to be mindful of what you're doing and being fully present while you're doing it is so important.
I will share over the course of SUMMER some of my favorite activities to do in the season that help me slow down and soak up the present moment.

There's nothing like spending a summer evening or Saturday morning at a farmers market, perusing the fresh picked locally grown produce. It feels good to support a small farmer directly rather than a big chain grocery store. Make sure to bring your own baskets and fancy fabric bags!
You'll look cuter carrying them and you don't have to use the plastic options

I thought I would give an update about the aims I set for this year as listed in a earlier post in 2019

Buy a fancy fancy teapot and enjoy every cup I pour from it... I was gifted a Kitty style teapot along with the milk jug and sugar bowl... must do the photo thing!

Make time for Community (local to me)... This is working well, i even stepped up to do the running of Book Club last month while the normal organizer was off having a operation (It's a big thing for me to run a meeting)

Get FIT rather then stress the scales Have not been on the scales for six months (not kidding here). I walk at least 1 hour a day (be it slow & steady due to my feet). Not sure the scales would say I have lost weight but sure love being outdoors (bar the 3 snakes I've seen in the last week) eek!!

Do more classes with Australian artists in person I signed up for a drawing class and also try to do a craft class at the shows when they are here...

Attend more Retreats I have attended 1 so far and have another at the end of the year and 1 early next year

Enjoy my Environment ... There are so many beautiful places out there to stop and take a breath. Been getting out more with friends and learning about the area we now live in

Ditch a number of things & people who are holding me back-This is not a negative it is a healthy thing YES and yes. My world is a better place and I am less negative and my mind is more healthier

Get FIT rather then stress the scales
Do more classes with Australian artists in person
Attend more Retreats
Enjoy my Environment ... There are so many beautiful places out there to stop and take a breath.

'Our Heart is Our Temple'
This is my simple religion, There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy of Kindness – Dali Lamar

As I write this we are in the twilight zone between years, as the festivities are over it is time for reflecting on 2018 and think about what word to choose for 2019.

I chose the word KINDNESS for 2018, I was in love with the whole concept of stepping out into the wider world on a bit of an adventure to show kindness to all. I had no idea then, that instead of seamlessly melding from one world to another, I would literally fall off the edge into a whole other future. They say the veil is thin at this time of the year, between us and the spirit world. And it seemed as if the veil was thin for an entire year, when walking in my shoes.
There were warnings late in December 2017 about the shortness of life and the strange turns that it can take. 3 months in and I had the need to put on a show of strength and to take a ninja stance to deal with it all. Along with the loss of my brother, my own health suffered a major kick and life will never be the same.
So instead of stepping out on the threshold of a new beginning with kindness in my heart, as I had anticipated, 2018 was a year of struggle and a fair bit of turning inwards took place.
As at other times, I again turned to walking to find some healing. Still haven't arrived but I will take up a new word 'Tranquil/Tranquility' for 2019.

Seek tranquil moments in your life for 2019

love to all x

Claude M. Bristol ( 1891 1951)
I have chosen my 2019 Little Word: love when it finds me...
I am still trying to follow my word for 2018 KINDNESS...
I will return at the end of December to let you know my new word.
Thank you to all who still visit here at the blog, I love having you within my Lane.
Have a Happy Christmas xx

“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” — Dalai Lama

I am slowly getting back to normal life after my beautiful holiday down south in Melbourne.
I was so lucky to meet a few on line peeps who I have known for years in real life and to catch up with the children and see where they live.

I am not going to get into December Daily this year, I want to make time to prepare a 12 month challenge instead in December. I have purchased the new B6 Kikki K planner in Nude. It is a new style without dates and lovely pockets and expanding buttons on the flap with two pen holders. So I will set it up for 2019 instead of December Daily.

Squeeze my day

In October I will be doing a challenge called 31 minutes for 31 days.. The challenge is hosted by Kellie Winnell on facebook (I stumbled onto the challenge when looking for ink October)

....I thought I can do this style of challenge....

I have sourced a list of prompts for the 31 days and I have set up a little 4 x 4 album with a set of We R Memory Keepers project life style cards called Studio Gold by Teresa Collins, they have been in my stash forever. I have gathered all my Ali Edward story kits and sorted those into themes relating to the prompt list. I will gather my photos and each day I plan to scrapbook and journal for the 31 minutes for 31 days....  :) :) :)

A day out on the ocean to view the whales
...was amazing...

There was two very close to shore and they kept swimming under the boat. So the captain had to stop and the whales had a wonderful time snorting the passages (yes they were that close).

Make the Most of You

Nothing in our world remains static.
It's either growing or declining.
Unless you adjust to the changes, you'll stultify.
Treat change as an opportunity to refresh.
The longer you resist, the greater the shock.
Adjust gradually.

'They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom'
Confucius (551BC-479BC)

Thursday, 5 April 2018

I still need to share my 'Make the most of you' but this statement from Colin Wright caught my attention today and I thought I would share it!

What can someone stand to gain by putting in the effort to simplify their life?
More of the good stuff, less of the bad. “Good” and “bad” defined by the person in question; it’ll be different for everyone.

What it means, essentially, is carving away the excess, the dross, the stuff we’re told we’re supposed to have, the things we’re told we’re supposed to do, the relationships we’re told we’re supposed to maintain even though they’re toxic for us—we cut that away and make more room for the things that make us happiest. That fulfil us and challenge us and help us grow.

Simplicity isn’t about having stark white walls or the right computer or clothing. It’s not the Instagrammable, hashtagged version of “minimalism.” It’s about less of better. And once again, “better” according to your standards and no one else’s.

Squeeze My Day

I have decided to do this 100-day challenge as a little Project Life book... I will drop back in weekly with a photo but will not be doing the hash tag # thingy... So far I have prepared the cutout items to use for this and gathered my project life cards. I will not be putting the book together until the last month of the challenge. I will be using little photos. If you want to know more about the 100 days you can click on the photo about and it will link to the site>>>

Enjoy your day, I will be back later in the week with my 'Make the most of you quote' and a photo of this project.

The importance of being fully present sounds obvious.
But in our maelstrom of bewildering change,
it's easy to wander mentally and emotionally.
Being there allows us to fully participate in our lives,
not be just a casual observer,
always focused on some future notion.

The living moment is everything

“Hope” is the thing with feathers  by Emily Dickinson
“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

'Squeeze the Day'

DO remember that the best things in life are free.

To care for yourself, you don’t need to stay at a five-star resort. Meditation, gratitude lists, deep conversations, hugs, journaling sessions, positive affirmations, and listening to your favorite song are all examples of simple self-care strategies that don’t cost a cent. I love nothing better than curling up with a good book borrowed from a friend or the local library.

The book I am reading at the moment is called Sapphire Falls by Fleur McDonald...
Fleur is an Australian (I love books set in my country and written by fellow Australians) I have just started the book, so will come back later for a review.
My Review 3/5 I loved the first half of the book, as it took me into the story. I felt like I was entering the shed with the sheep. BUT: I felt that having the two storylines running side by side only confused the plot. I thought the end was rushed... Still an enjoyable read.

'Make the most of you'

Be eternally curious

Perhaps the most valuable trait of all is curiosity.
It nurtures hope and optimism.
It inspires invention.
It nourishes intelligence and drives progress.
Encourage it.
Embrace its flow and share its rewards.

'I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious'
Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Tuesday, 23 January 2018

Just like life, decorating is all about perspective.
It’s about learning to live with what you have and embracing every inch of the imperfect.
The flaws.
The character.
The dings and dents and nicks.
Because truly?
Just between us, here’s the truth that we know, but we often forget.
All those imperfections are so much more beautiful and amazing and incredible….
….than perfect ever dreamed of being.

Ashley Campbell & Family - "Try A Little Kindness" | Live at the Grand O...

Making this my theme song for 2018,

Love that Glen Campbell's sisters sing along with Ashley... I love country music and Glen Campbell was a legend.

Tuesday, 2 January 2018

I am setting myself a little weekly challenge and I am calling it

'Squeeze the Day'

Haven't set the challenge fully yet but I have penciled it into my planner and putting it here to remind me to just squeeze time for me into my day to show me a little Kindness.

Monday, 1 January 2018

The end of 2017 was a bit of a blur... we madly packed and moved interstate!
I used my One Little Word 'JOY' right to the end and now I welcome my new word 'KINDNESS' into 2018.

I always do a little purchase of an item each month of the year but this year I am just going to share a little tale from a little book 'Make the most of you' each month. I hope you will enjoy them.

Value your loved ones:

It seems so obvious.
But how often do we take our
dearest ones for granted?
Remember how they have supported us
at times when nobody else would.
Think of how they form part of the fabric of our lives.
Take time to tell them how much you love them.
Treasure the time you have with them.

'Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.'
Paulo Coelho (1947) 'The Alchemist'

My first flower for 2017 arrived via a different way than expected last night. While out walking in the evening with hubby, we passed a small group of teenage boys. When one stood in front of me and asked would you like this FLOWER. I, of course, couldn't refuse such a lovely item from a sweet fellow. He was so darn polite in the asking. It is a lightish yellow with a touch of pink in the center. A beautiful summer flower called a hibiscus.

Saturday, 31 December 2016

I have held my one little word STILL close to my heart this year., and I learnt a lot from bringing Stillness within my heart and actions over the last 12 months. As I leave 2016 and go into 2017 I have chosen the word JOY to carry throughout the new year. I am a little sad to let go of the Stillness that walked with me in 2016 but I look forward to sending out JOY to all and living by Richard Wagners quote 'Joy is not in things but is in us' Have the Happiest 2017 blog readers. This year I will be looking out for Flowers as my little personal shopping item across the year and I have choosen YELLOW as the yearly colour. It is such a happy Joyful colour.

Wednesday, 23 November 2016

My word for 2016 has been 'STILL' so when this little quote popped up in a little online class. I knew I had to save it to my blog. I choose to still my mind & actions this year, next year I will be returning with a different word. I have been purchasing a few birds as the year flowed by... Will share a photo of them when I get around to taking a photo. My camera has been sitting gathering dust, along with a lot of crafty stuff.  I slowly return to a digital world.... I have been letting go of a lot of my personal stuff and making a simple less cluttered home. Looking forward to keeping my word STILL until 2017 rolls around, it's been wonderful to let my mind still and not stress about blogging or keeping up with the JONES in the crafty world....

Tuesday, 12 April 2016

I thought I would post a little about myself to requaint you with me.... :)

What is your name and profession?

My name is Lucy O'Malley-Powter, I am -- years young. My profession? I have a dream to create, as I want to be a graphic/creative designer! So I am a STUDENT who is studying the fundamentals of design to make it happen...
Tell me about the place that you call home and how it inspires your work?
I reside on the beautiful Central Coast in New South Wales Australia, which for me has a huge influence on my work, it is such a unique and exciting environment, it has the feel of a small coastal town but has the innovation of a big city. It’s a perfect place for a creative to constantly feel inspired.
Do you have a favourite little escape or local hangout?
If I’m not at the beach or sitting down close to the lake by the jetty, you’ll find me at a local cafe within a short stroll from my house, it has amazing coffee.
When do you work best? I’m very guilty of being a night owl when it comes to my creative work, I find it hard to sit at my computer inside if it’s a beautiful day outside, I'm easily distracted (sigh)....

My poor little blog is having a hicup and I don't know how to fix it... off to learn about coding, so that I can restore it

Testing to see if I can update my sign off tag... It has been so annoying that it wasn't showing up on old posts.

Friday, 1 January 2016

My 2016 mantra is “Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings.” Victor Hugo

I have been debating if to climb out of my rabbit hole in 2015 or wait until 2016 but I decided to wait until in the New Year. I do need to move from the rabbit hole to the big gum tree on the very top branch in 2016. I have dreams to create, and they will not happen in a rabbit hole.

I want to be a bird looking down into my lane not holed up in a rabbit hole in the ground, which I did create for myself in the lane. Gee wiz I didn't surface to write a single post in 2015 after January. Now that 2016 is here, you will find me in my nest within that beautiful gum tree here in the lane. I need to SING again so sing I will...

I did follow through on purchasing GREEN CUPs in 2015,... I have 4 new cups: 2 stuffed with pens & paint brushes, 1 is for chinise tea and the other is a special gift from my best best friend. I couldn't believe that she choose me this special gift without knowing my theme, and it is the right colour too. Trish doesn't do the internet thing and I hadn't mentioned it to her at all... You have gotta love it when those sort of things happen... I heart her to bits, she is a beautiful friend who has stuck by me like for ever.

My theme for 2016 is going to be BLUE (my happy colour) and I am going to fly and search out some feathered friends to share the branch in my big gum tree...
